Are there classes on Martin Luther King Day? What activities take place?

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day (this year, on January 21), Dartmouth’s classes are moved to the “x-hour,” a period each week reserved for that course in its regularly assigned classroom at a time different from the standard time scheduled for the course, to allow students, faculty and staff to attend the many events during the day. This year, Marion Wright Edelman, the founder and president of the Children’s Defense Fund, will give the keynote address; events surrounding the celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day start on Sunday, January 20 and continue through Friday, February 1. For full information on activities and programs around Martin Luther King Jr. Day, visit the College’s Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration web site.
