Who are Dartmouth's top administrators and what roles do they play at the College?

Dartmouth is led by President Jim Yong Kim, who took office as the 17th president of Dartmouth College on July 1, 2009. The first physician to serve as Dartmouth’s president, he also is an anthropologist who brings a passion for learning, innovation, and service to Dartmouth.

Acting Provost Carol L. Folt is directly responsible for overseeing the overall academic integrity of the entire institution and for those operations transcending the work of a single faculty. Dartmouth's professional schools, major academic support units, and several other offices, academic centers and institutes report to the Provost.

Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration Adam M. Keller is responsible for managing the financial, physical, and human resources of the College. Keller has served as executive vice president since 2003.

In addition to serving as Acting Provost, Dean of the Faculty Carol Folt is the first woman to serve as Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Sciences at Dartmouth, and is responsible for academic matters in the Arts & Sciences, including undergraduate departments and programs and Arts & Sciences graduate programs. Folt has served as dean since 2006; prior to that, she served two years as interim Dean of the Faculty. Folt is also an award winning biologist and pioneering environmental scientist.

While Dean Folt oversees the academic life of Dartmouth's undergraduates, Acting Dean of the College Sylvia Spears is responsible for the out-of-the-classroom life of our students, with overall responsibility for the supervision, coordination, long-range planning and budgeting for student life programs including residential life, athletics, and student organizations.

At Dartmouth's graduate and professional programs, Dean Paul Danos oversees the Tuck School of Business, ranked as the nation's #2 school of business by Forbes; Joseph Helble is the Dean of the Thayer School of Engineering, one of the country's oldest professional schools of engineering; William R. Green is Dean of Dartmouth Medical School, founded in 1797 and encompassing 16 clinical and basic science departments; and Brian Pogue is the Dean of Graduate Studies, comprised of 19 master's and doctoral programs in the Arts & Sciences.

Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid Maria Laskaris is a 1984 graduate of Dartmouth, overseeing the admission of each year's undergraduate class. Reporting to the provost, the dean oversees all operations of Dartmouth's Office of Admissions and Financial Aid as well as the supporting positions of director of admissions and director of financial aid.

Dean of Libraries and Librarian of the College Jeffrey Horrell oversees the eight libraries that make up the Dartmouth College Library system, supporting excellence and innovation in education and research, managing and delivering information, and partnering to develop and disseminate new scholarship.

Vice President for Institutional Diversity & Equity Holly Sateia oversees and coordinates diversity initiatives across campus, focused on supporting, assisting, and enhancing Dartmouth's commitment to learning and pluralism

Vice President for Development Carrie Pelzel oversees the fundraising efforts of the College, including the $1.3 billion Campaign for the Dartmouth Experience.

Vice President for Alumni Relations David Spalding is a 1976 Dartmouth graduate. Spalding heads an office that maintains close connections with, and helps foster connections among, Dartmouth's approximately 70,000 alumni.

Vice President for Information Technology Ellen Waite-Franzen leads Dartmouth's computing services, which encompasses all computing infrastructure and architecture, applications development, and instructional and research support.

Vice President for Communications Diana L. Pearson is responsible for developing and implementing the institution’s overall communications strategy, which is designed to increase understanding of and support for Dartmouth’s educational and public service activities.
