In 2004, on the occasion of its 90th anniversary, the leading strategy and technology consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton identified what it considered the world’s “enduring institutions,” a group of 10 institutions that have “changed and grown in unswerving pursuit of success and relevance — yet remained true through time to its founding principles."
Dartmouth, along with Oxford University in England, were named in the academic institutions category. Others named include the Olympic Games and the Rolling Stones in the category of arts and entertainment; General Electric and Sony in business and commerce; the American Constitution and the International Telecommunication Union in government institutions; and the Salvation Army and the Rockefeller Foundation as nonprofit organizations.
