How many visitors come to the Ask Dartmouth site? What's been the most popular question?

Since we launched "Ask Dartmouth" in mid-March of 2007, the response has been tremendous: there have been more than 167,000 visitors to the site, an average of nearly 600 per day. Not all visitors ask questions, but so far we've fielded more than 1,000 questions in various ways, over a hundred of which have been posted to the website. As you can see, we post new questions regularly, but there are many others that are forwarded on to appropriate offices (admissions questions, for instance) or that we respond directly to the questioner. Some questions are similar to others we've answered; we try to consolidate similar questions and answer them. As we've said, we can't possibly answer each and every question asked of us, but we're doing our best to get to as many as we can in a timely fashion.

As for the most popular question, that varies. Of course, the question that we feature daily on the Dartmouth home page will get a lot of traffic, and so our statistics show us that the question about Stephen Colbert that ran on the home page May 6-7 has gotten the most views (5,104 as of 12/12/07) so far. Other popular questions dealt with former Dartmouth students Dr. Seuss and Mr. Rogers, why the front doors of Dartmouth Hall are always locked, and whether graduate students teach at the College.
