What happened with Student Assembly's COS recommendations?

In fall 2006, a Student Assembly task force presented recommendations for a number of possible changes to the disciplinary system. Acting Dean of the College Dan Nelson '75 told the task force that he believes COS should be reviewed periodically; in fact he chaired such a review eight years ago.

In an interview with The Dartmouth, Dean Nelson said, "What the Committee is calling for are some fairly significant changes in the long- term structure of the College disciplinary system. ... [The issues raised in the report] have enough potential long-term implications for the College and for student life that the process for responding to those really needs to be under the purview of the person who will be dean of the College for the foreseeable future."

Acting Dean Nelson will suggest that the new dean take up a review of the COS upon his or her appointment.
