The Dartmouth Charter, which dates from 1769, defines the Board of Trustees as the governing body of Dartmouth College. There are 18 voting members, including Dartmouth's president and New Hampshire's governor (ex-officio), and they are responsible for the long-term health of the institution. All Trustees have the same duties and responsibilities. Below is a list of the current Trustees:
