Board of Trustees

What are the responsibilities of Dartmouth's Board of Trustees?

The Board of Trustees sets policy for the College and is the ultimate authority for Dartmouth's financial, administrative and educational affairs.  The Board's responsibilities include: 1) to select and support the President; 2) to determine the mission of the institution; 3) to ensure financial solvency and good management; 4) to ensure sound strategic planning; 5) to serve as institutional ambassadors; 6) to assist with fund raising; and 7) to preserve the autonomy of the institution.  Individual trustees are expected to act in the best overall interest of Dartmouth, to advance the College's mission, and to uphold the integrity of the Board.
