Board of Trustees

How are Dartmouth’s charter trustees selected?

Dartmouth’s Board of Trustees is currently made up of 18 members: eight charter trustees, eight alumni trustees, the president of the College (currently President James Wright) and the governor of New Hampshire (currently John Lynch), ex officio. While the eight alumni trustees are nominated to the Board by a process involving balloting among Dartmouth’s 68,000 alumni, charter trustees are elected by the Board itself, through nomination by its Governance/Nominating Committee.
